A Good Life secures new funding from The National Lottery
Sight And Mind CIC based in Knowsley is celebrating after A Good Life Partnership was awarded 3 years’ further funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK. A Good Life Partnership is a collaboration between Sight And Mind CIC, Better Lives, TASC and KDC which offers a wrap-around advice, support and advocacy service for adults in Knowsley who are disadvantaged for any reason such as poverty, disability, health, age or other circumstance. We ensure that the wealth of community services available in Knowsley is made available to help improve the situation and move you closer to having A Good Life.
The National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK and The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.
Surviving and Thriving through a global pandemic!
This new award will enable the partnership to continue to deliver its already successful service which began in January 2020, just weeks before the world changed overnight. Waking up to an unprecedented global pandemic meant sudden and immense change for everyone including adjusting to a new way of working. Sight and Mind had to quickly adapt to working remotely so we could continue to support and advocate for those families caring for a loved one at home with dementia who were also navigating the challenges of clinically shielding. This had a huge impact on their mental and emotional health but we’re proud to say that the regular contact from us throughout was the only thing that stopped them from feeling completely isolated and forgotten about behind closed doors.
Time to Celebrate
As a partnership, we felt it was important to not only celebrate this new funding but to also celebrate the great work we had achieved over the last 3 years supporting residents of Knowsley through a global pandemic. We brought together members of the local community, councillors, NHS and statutory services, referral agencies and a few special guests to showcase the partnership and to chat and mingle over a light lunch. It was a very uplifting and inspiring event with each partner sharing a little about their service, their successes and how proud we were of the partnership and the incredible work we were doing to enable residents of Knowsley to have ‘a good life’. We even heard from a few who had accessed the service and the positive impact it had made to their lives. There were a few tears shed!
Cecilia Toole said “this event was the perfect opportunity to showcase A Good Life Partnership and to celebrate all that we have achieved since 2020. We are hugely grateful to The National Lottery for supporting our project and acknowledging the difference we are making to the lives of those living in Knowsley. This new funding will ensure our service continues to reach some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
